Launch Local is a new entrepreneurship program under the Ontario government that aims to help individuals start their own business and support retention and expansion within the community.
Launch Local will provide mentoring and training, with the potential of a micro grant for successful applicants, to start and grow a small business in Hamilton.

Eligible candidates are Ontario residents between 30-64 years of age who are looking to start a full-time business. The program consists of business development training, monthly mentoring sessions with local business leaders, and networking opportunities.

Launch Local will be delivered by the Hamilton Small Business Enterprise Centre, part of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneur (ONE).

Individuals interested in the program are encouraged to come to an orientation session to learn more and clarify eligibility requirements.

Starter Company
Starter Company program is a key part of the Ontario’s comprehensive Youth Job Strategy, which aims to invest $250 million over two years to help young people find jobs and start their own businesses while helping employers find skilled workers. Starter Company provides mentoring, training and capital up to $5000 for youth to start, grow or buy a small business.

Eligible candidates are those Ontario residents between 18-29 years of age, not attending school full time, and looking to start a full-time business. The program is 6-8 months in length, with ongoing mentoring and training. Starter Company will be delivered by the Small Business Enterprise Centres (SBEC’s), part of Ontario’s Network of Entrepreneur’s (ONE).

Individuals interested in the program are encouraged to come to an orientation to learn more and clarify eligibility requirements.

In addition to the above noted programs, we are pleased to announce that the 2016 Summer Company Program is now open for registrations! As you may recall, Summer Company is a key component of the Ontario government’s young entrepreneurs programs; which aims to encourage more young people to turn their talents into creative and innovative businesses. Summer Company provides hands-on business training and mentoring, together with awards of up to $3000.00 to help enterprising students start up and run their own summer business.

Eligible candidates must be between 15-29 years of age, a student returning to school in the fall of 2015, a resident of Ontario, Canadian citizen or Landed Immigrant and is not to be operating an existing business or be employed full time over the course of the summer. In addition, students must be prepared to commit a minimum of 8 -12 consecutive weeks full-time to the experience.

This one-day event is held to celebrate enterprising and dynamic women leaders from across our business communities through business-to-business networking, an inspiring women’s business panel and featuring keynote speaker Anna Olson (culinary Master and host of Bake with Anna Olson).
